 This year the PA Guild will be repairing some well used fireplaces at a Boy Scout camp of the Cradle of Liberty Council

 Work we have scheduled:

Pioneer Cabin

Pioneer Lodge

We will be installing the new Ahrens-Fire into this fireplace on Thursday and Friday

Woods Lane Cabin

 Reduce opening and new firebox. Rebuild Hearth, Face front with stone. Reline woodstove chimney.  This cabin will require the most labor

Dan Beard Cabin

  

We will be installing a woodstove in the main fireplace and reline this woodstove flue

Sleeping Information

Campers can park in the Trading Post parking lot

Tent campers- Open sites near trading post parking lot

Cabins have wood or old spring cots

Cabins available are -  Oak Lodge (sleeps 10),Spaid Lodge (sleeps 15), Lucien Maxwell (Sleeps 15), or the cabins we are working on

Location: Lancaster Host Resort and Conference Center, 2300 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602

General meeting - 1 pm with lunch for all attendees

July 10. 11.12 Family Summer Workshop at Clinton Co. Cabin (George M. Brent)


Workshop:  Finish stone facing started at last year's workshop.  On Saturday, a seminar with Bob Harper on Servicing gas units will be held.

Bring your camper, tent, van, whatever to sleep in.  We do have some bunk beds available (please reserve if you want one; also space in cabin if you have a cot or sleeping bag).  We are close to the Rails-to-Trails bike path, PA Grand Canyon area, good fishing, canoeing, and hiking areas.

Must bring your own sleeping bag or bedding; pillows; towels; if you have lawn chairs it would be helpful; flashlight, bug spray and whatever else you want.  We are in the mountains - this is bear and snake/wildlife country.  Also help with snacks and beverages - bring what you like for yourself and/or to share around the campfires.

Directions:  Find your way to Interstate 80.  Head toward Lock Haven Exit. (route 220 to Lock Haven). Get off at Lock Haven exit.  Take Route 120 into Lock Haven - stay in left lane.  Go straight, will come to stop sign (4 way).  Go straight across the bridge (you are crossing the Susquehanna).  After cross the bridge - is a T intersection go right (this is route 664).  Travel up the mountain about 16 miles.  You will finally come to a stop sign (see intersection for 664 and 44).  There is Mountain Top tavern/Inn on the left side of the road.  Go straight through the intersection.  Just past there is Carrier Rd on the left.  Turn onto Carrier Rd.  This turns into a dirt road.  If you pass Carrier Rd, you will come to Fin, Fur, and Feather Store.  Turn around there and go back.  Go down Carrier Rd about 4 miles - cross small bridge - will go uphill.  Will pass open area on both sides of dirt road (large gas line here)- then you will come to a log cabin on the right.  Right after this, turn right onto dirt lane.  Pondersa Pines - will pass through gate (says no trespassing).  This is Ponderosa Pines.  go straight a little ways, then bear to the left (Wild Cat Lane) go short distance and turn right onto Twin Dam Vista.  Go most of the way down - we are Lot #29 almost to end.  Look for signs along the route.  We are on the left (see stone pillars at entrance) - Go down dirt lane - will see small cabin with green tin roof and to the right will see pavilion and larger log cabin also with green roof.  You have found the place.

We will be at the cabin Thursday morning.

Only cost involved will be cost for main meals July 11, 12, 13 - $30 for one person or family price of $40.  Please RSVP by June 10, 2003.

April 24-26 Charity Workshop and meeting in Indiana, PA  
WHEN
: Friday and Saturday April 25 and 26 2003

WHERE: Camp Seth Mack - a Boy Scout camp at Yellow Creek State Park in Indiana County region 4.

WHAT: We will be doing a restoration of an old stone fireplace and flue

COST: $25.00 for non-guild members. 1 person per company that is a Guild member admitted free

Just by attending and observing, you can't help but pick up information and ideas to put to use in your business. You are also more than welcome to get some hands on training. You women are always invited to attend, also! This camp is off of Rt.422 between the towns of Ebensburg and Indiana. You may arrive Thursday afternoon and camp on the premises. They will be having a work weekend going on like last year, so cabins may be very scarce. Tents or campers would be good. Motel lodging is available in Indiana. Work will start at 8:30 am Friday morning until 4.

Meeting with installment of officers and regions 2 and 5 directors will begin at 6:00 pm

Board of directors and officers only at 5:15 .

2nd Annual Charity Workshop

To be held at Gretna Glen Camp, Lebanon, PA. Workshop will begin about 12:00 p.m. on Friday and wrap up late afternoon on Saturday. We will be installing 3 stainless steel chimney lining systems, along with doing some miscellaneous masonry work. The cost is FREE to 1 company member with registration by July 31. Each additional person attending and registrants after July 31 will cost $45.00. A Free workshop T-shirt will be given to the first 24 registrants.
